From Millionaires to Billionaires

Contrary to rumors, Oprah Winfrey was NOT the first African American Billionaire, it was Willie Morrow. Now sit back and relax while I lay it down to you. You won't find his name in wikipedia or other sources. We protect him.

In the late 60's and early 70's Willie Morrow developed several hair products for the African American community. One was a product a friend brought back from Africa, a hair pick. He made several of them and made a killing with the new hairstyle at the time, the blowout.

Another ideal he had was a Ammonium Thioglycolate product that would take the kink out of the hair and relax it. This product was called "The Curl". Some other manufacturers stole the copywrite and were sued. This made Mr. Morrow a Billionaire in the early 80's.

The Black Hair Care industry was the largest employer of African Americans. Most of the money went back to the community. Madame C.J. Walker was America's first Female Millionaire. John H. Johnson the publisher of Ebony and Jet magazine started his business as a hair care company. At one time there was thousands of Black Hair Care companies. What happened?

If you're an African America you know about "The Proud Lady". It's a logo that tells the person that the product was made by a African American firm. There are at the time I'm writing this FIVE Black hair care companies. Many Black hair care companies were bought out or wiped out. Like Black Basketball teams or Black Baseball teams integration killed them.

The Black Hair Care Companies offered scholarships in chemistry and science. They had sponsored a lot of residual companies like suppliers and distributors. Then they were wiped of the face of the map. We know about the power of corporations and how they can destroy a community. We seen it first hand.

There is no level playing field.
